Manufacturers are required to comply with additional requirements BA 9000 other than ISO 9001. Those requirements are specific to ballistics-resistant body armor manufacturing and testing. This standard is recommended by the National Institute of Justice (NIJ) for highest safety standards.

Product must be inspected at Compliance Testing Program (CTP) approved labs, which need to be ISO 17025 compliant
Unique Identification and Traceability must be provided on each piece of the body armor to ensure accountability
Communication procedures with the Compliance Testing Program (CTP)
Work areas must be managed in order to reduce negative effects on body armor
